CIVIC VIRTUE II – 2012

STONES

Iron object and bronze objects, from the archives of the Historical Museum of Bamberg, silkscreened onto prefabricated concrete slabs. The concrete slabs with the bronze object signifies the Bronze Age, the one with iron object stands for the Iron Age, while the concrete slabs reference the Stone Age. Each stone is placed in a single room; the ones with an iron object on the lower storey and the bronze objects on the upper storey.
Their placement references the classification of pre-historic time; the Stone Age is defined by the fact that knifes (and spears) were made from polished stones while the second two phases are named for the technological advances in metals used for making knifes, spears and swords.
